Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
A weight-neutral approach to managing PCOS focuses on symptom management and hormonal balance rather than weight loss:
• Eating a balanced diet rich in whole foods, healthy fats, lean proteins, and low-glycemic carbohydrates to support insulin sensitivity and hormonal balance.
• Regular physical activity like resistance training or moderate-intensity aerobic exercises, which can improve insulin sensitivity and reduce symptoms of PCOS, irrespective of weight.
• Mindful eating to manage stress and emotional eating, which can exacerbate hormonal imbalances.
• Addressing specific symptoms such as irregular periods, acne, or hair growth.
We love to support our PCOS clients that come to us for nutrition support. Generally, we like to get your up to date lab work from your doctor to help look at hormones, current blood sugar, A1c, and insulin levels to help make targeted recommendations. We take an approach of using nutrition and movement along with medications prescribed by your doctor as needed for blood glucose management.
