Michelle Brotherton is a Registered Dietitian in North Carolina focused on a non-diet approach to improve her clients physical and mental health through adequate nutrition, and bring her client towards a state of confidence in their eating through evidence-based nutrition practices.
Areas of Expertise
Specific areas of expertise include Intuitive Eating/Anti-Diet, sports nutrition, utilizing nutrition to medically manage various disease states such as chronic or hormonal diseases, and treatment of eating disorders/disordered eating. Michelle works with a wide age-range from 5 and up to offer nutrition counseling through various points in the lifecycle.
Education
Michelle completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, her Master’s Degree in Nutritional Science and Dietetics through the University of Alabama at Birmingham.Michelle has a passion for helping those with a history of dieting and/or disordered eating heal their relationship with food through learning about the facts of biochemistry and physiology. Michelle has a special focus on educating clients on the ins’ and outs’ of their nutrition needs to make food less complicated and start to be enjoyable again.
When working with clients, Michelle’s aim is to bring an empathetic, non-judgmental, and empowering energy to help give clients the tools and support they need to shift away from the rigidity, fear, and shame around food and move toward sustainable, health promoting behaviors. Michelle understands and respects each individual’s health journey, and will go above and beyond to provide care to make each client thrive.
In her spare time, you can find Michelle participating in various outdoor activities such as running and tennis, tapping into her creative side with painting, and spending time with her two best friends – her husband Shane, and poodle mix, Blue.
